360Eyes Camera Not Connecting to WiFi (Pairing Fixes)

Can't get your 360Eye camera to connect to WiFi? Fix pairing failures — 2.4GHz requirement, QR scan problems, and special characters in network names.

If your 360Eyes camera is not connecting to WiFi during setup, the cause is almost always one of three things: your phone is on a 5 GHz network, the WiFi password was typed wrong, or the QR code scan failed. Fix those three and the vast majority of pairing failures disappear.

This guide is for cameras that fail during initial setup or re-pairing. If your camera paired fine before and only recently dropped offline, start with the camera offline fixes instead.

Why you can't get a 360Eye camera to connect

During pairing, the app passes your WiFi name and password to the camera — on most 360Eyes models by showing a QR code on your phone screen that the camera's lens reads. Anything that corrupts that handoff (wrong band, wrong password, unreadable QR code, an unsupported character in the network name) makes pairing fail, often with a vague error or an endless spinner.

Work through these steps in order.

1. Connect your phone to a 2.4 GHz network first

360Eyes cameras pair on 2.4 GHz WiFi only — they cannot see or join 5 GHz networks. During setup the app generally hands the camera the network your phone is currently on, so:

  • In your phone's WiFi settings, join the 2.4 GHz network explicitly before starting pairing.
  • If your router broadcasts a single combined name for both bands, log in to the router admin page and split the bands into two names (for example HomeWiFi-2.4G and HomeWiFi-5G), or temporarily disable 5 GHz while pairing.
  • Mesh systems often hide this option under "advanced" or per-device settings; some let you pin an IoT device to 2.4 GHz.

This single step fixes more pairing failures than everything else combined.

2. Re-type the WiFi password carefully

A single wrong character means the camera will silently fail to join. Type the password manually rather than relying on autofill, watch for trailing spaces, and mind the case — WiFi passwords are case-sensitive.

3. Fix QR code scan issues

If the camera never reacts to the QR code shown by the app:

  • Turn your phone's screen brightness to maximum and disable auto-brightness.
  • Hold the phone roughly 15–25 cm (6–10 inches) from the camera lens and move it slowly closer and further away.
  • Clean the camera lens and remove any protective film left from the factory.
  • Don't tilt the phone — keep the QR code flat and square to the lens.
  • On most cameras a beep or voice prompt confirms a successful scan; if you hear nothing after 30 seconds, restart the pairing flow in the app.

4. Remove special characters from your WiFi name and password

Some cameras choke on network names (SSIDs) or passwords containing emoji, quotes, spaces, or symbols like ', ", &, \, or non-Latin characters. If pairing keeps failing and your SSID or password contains anything beyond plain letters and numbers, rename the network (or set a simpler password) temporarily, pair the camera, and verify it works before deciding whether to keep the simpler name.

5. Reset the camera and try again

Failed pairing attempts can leave the camera in a confused state. Reset it to factory defaults — see the reset guide — wait for the camera to announce it's ready (on most models there's a voice prompt or a blinking status light), then restart pairing from the Devices screen in the app.

6. Update or reinstall the app

Pairing flows get fixed in app updates. Make sure you're on the latest version:

  • iOS (iOS 13 or later): 360Eyes on the App Store
  • Android: 360Eyes Pro on Google Play

Also confirm the app has the permissions it asks for during setup — on iOS in particular, Local Network permission is commonly needed; if you denied a permission prompt earlier, re-enable it in your phone's settings.

Edge cases worth checking

  • Router security mode: very old WEP encryption and some WPA3-only configurations can prevent IoT devices from joining. WPA2 (or WPA2/WPA3 mixed) is the safest setting.
  • MAC filtering or access control: if your router whitelists devices, the camera will be rejected even with a correct password.
  • Captive portals: networks that require a browser login page (hotels, offices) generally won't work for cameras.
  • Too many devices: some routers cap the number of connected clients; freeing up a slot can help on crowded networks.
  • Hotspot test: create a 2.4 GHz hotspot on a second phone and try pairing to it. If that works, the camera is fine and the problem is in your router's configuration.
