Reset a 360Eyes Camera Without the App (Original Binding Account)

Factory reset a 360Eyes camera when you can't log in, changed phones, or bought it used and it's locked to the original binding account.

Quick answer: you do not need the app, a login, or the previous owner's password to factory reset a 360Eyes camera. The reset button is pure hardware — power the camera on, hold the button for 5-10 seconds until it beeps or the light flashes, and it returns to pairing mode. On most cameras this also clears the original binding account, so you can add the camera to your own account afterwards.

The catch: on some units the binding survives the reset, and the app refuses to add the camera because it's "already bound" to someone else. This guide covers both the normal case and that one.

Unofficial guide. Binding behavior is enforced partly on the server side and has changed across firmware and app versions, so we describe what happens on most cameras rather than guaranteeing one outcome.

When You Need to Reset Without the App

  • You changed phones and can't remember the account email or password you originally registered with.
  • You bought the camera second-hand and it's still tied to the seller's account.
  • A family member or installer set it up on their account and is no longer reachable.
  • The app account was deleted but the camera still thinks it belongs to it.

In every case, the first move is the same: a hardware reset.

Step 1: Hardware Reset — No Login Required

  1. Power the camera on and wait about a minute for it to boot.
  2. Find the reset button: on most 360Eyes cameras it's a pinhole near the microSD/TF card slot, a small button on the base, or — on light-bulb cameras — around the collar near the bulb base. The full reset-button guide has a location table for each camera style.
  3. Press and hold for 5-10 seconds with a pin or paper clip, until the camera beeps, speaks a prompt, or the status light starts flashing fast.
  4. Let it reboot into pairing mode (blinking status light).

That's the entire "without the app" part — no account is involved. Now try adding the camera to your account: install the iOS 360Eyes app or the Android 360Eyes Pro app, register a fresh account if needed, connect your phone to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network, and run the add-device flow.

On most cameras, this just works: the reset wiped the old binding, and the camera now belongs to your account.

The 360Eyes Original Binding Account Problem

If pairing fails with a message along the lines of device already bound to another account, your unit keeps its account binding on the server even after a factory reset. This is an anti-theft measure: it stops someone who steals a camera from simply resetting it and using it. Unfortunately it also catches honest second-hand buyers.

Work through these in order:

  1. Reset again, properly. A too-short button press can reboot the camera without clearing it. Hold a full 10-15 seconds and wait for the clear confirmation (beep/voice/fast flashing) before releasing.
  2. Have the original owner unbind it. This is the reliable fix. The previous owner opens their app, finds the camera in the Devices list, and deletes/removes it from their account. Once it disappears from their list, reset the camera once more and add it to your account. If you bought the camera online, message the seller and ask them to "delete the camera from your 360Eyes Pro account" — most sellers know this request.
  3. Recover the original account instead. If the binding account was yours (old phone, forgotten password), use the app's password-reset option with the email you registered. Logging back in restores access to the camera without any unbinding.
  4. Contact app support. If the previous owner is unreachable, support may be able to release the binding after you prove ownership (purchase receipt, photos of the camera and its serial/QR sticker). Response times and requirements vary; this is the slow path, but it's the only legitimate one left.

There is no published backdoor to strip a binding yourself, and that's by design — be wary of third-party "unbinding services."

Second-Hand Camera Checklist

Buying or selling a used 360Eyes camera? Avoid the binding problem entirely:

  • Seller: delete the camera from your Devices list in the app before shipping, then factory reset it. Pull or format the TF card so your recordings don't travel with it.
  • Buyer: before paying, ask the seller to confirm the camera has been removed from their account. On handover, do a reset and a test pairing while you can still return it.

If Nothing Works

If the camera resets but can never be paired to a new account, and neither the seller nor support can release it, the unit is effectively locked. At that point your recourse is a refund or return through the seller. For ordinary reset problems — no beep, wrong hole, pairing failures on 5 GHz WiFi — see the troubleshooting section of the 360Eyes reset button guide, and the reset overview for what a reset does and doesn't erase.
