Recording & SD Card FAQs for 360Eyes Cameras
Fix 360Eyes not recording, motion detection clips not saving, playback errors, and SD card problems with step-by-step guides for the 360Eyes Pro app.
If your 360Eyes camera streams live video just fine but nothing shows up when you tap playback, the problem is almost always one of three things: the TF (microSD) card, the recording settings in the app, or the way the playback timeline reads its source. This section walks through all three.
Note: This is an independent, unofficial guide. Menu names and behavior can vary slightly between camera models and app versions, so treat exact wording as approximate.
What this section covers
Motion detection and recording problems
The single most common complaint we see is "360Eyes not recording" — the camera sends motion alerts to your phone, but when you open playback there is no saved video. That usually means alerts and recording are configured separately, and only one of them is turned on. Our guide on motion detection not recording covers:
- Why push alerts and saved recordings are two different settings
- How to check TF card health and format the card from the app
- Adjusting motion sensitivity and recording schedules
- How cloud storage and the TF card interact when both are enabled
Playback, timeline, and export problems
The second cluster of problems happens after recording works: the app won't play videos, throws a "video decryption failed" error, or you can't get a clip off the camera and onto your phone. The playback timeline guide explains:
- How the date picker, timeline scrubbing, and the Cloud/TF source toggle work
- What "decryption failed" usually means and how Encryption Mode is involved
- Known timeline limitations and practical workarounds
- Honest notes on exporting clips — a known weak point of the app
Quick triage
Before diving into the full guides, run through this table to narrow down where your problem lives:
| Symptom | Most likely cause | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Alerts arrive, no video saved | Recording disabled or TF card issue | Motion detection not recording |
| Timeline is completely empty | No TF card, unformatted card, or wrong source selected | Motion detection not recording |
| Recordings exist but won't open | Decryption, source toggle, or connection issue | Playback timeline guide |
| "Video decryption failed" error | Encryption Mode mismatch after account or camera changes | Playback timeline guide |
| Can't save or share a clip | App export limitations | Playback timeline guide |
Before you start: the basics
A few facts that apply across everything in this section:
- The camera records to a TF (microSD) card or to cloud storage — if you have neither a card inserted nor an active cloud plan, live view will work but playback will always be empty.
- Settings live per camera, not per account. Open the Devices list, pick the camera, then open its settings to find Alert, TF card Recording Settings, Cloud Storage, and Encryption Mode.
- The camera needs a stable 2.4 GHz WiFi connection to deliver playback to your phone. If live view is choppy, playback will struggle too.
- Get the right app: iOS users need 360Eyes on the App Store; Android users need 360Eyes Pro on Google Play. Old or mismatched app versions cause odd playback behavior.
If recording problems started right after a power outage, a WiFi change, or moving the camera, a factory reset and re-pair often clears them — see the reset guide for the full procedure.
